Check out my virtual lecture for Peerless Rockville (December 2020) which discusses operetta as an art form and how Victorian Lyric Opera Company keeps it relevant in the 21st century.
Active in the DC metro area, I specialize in directing opera and take pride in building community through both opera and theater. I direct, assistant direct, intimacy direct/choreograph, and occasionally choreograph dance.
I am a retired oboe player - a graduate of University of Miami's Frost School of Music - and I bring the same collaborative spirit to my staging as I did when playing in an orchestra.
My ethos is best summed up by Michael Bloom: "Ultimately, the director is a creator of communities - someone who can recognize talent and inspire the very best from other artists, lead them but welcome their contributions, and make everyone feel they are important partners."
By day, I am a fundraising operations manager for Round House Theatre, and have worked in similar capacities for organizations including Florida Grand Opera, Studio Theatre, and Washington Performing Arts for the past 10 years.
